PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Justin Lynch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buzzkill McGee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lynch comes to the cage accompanied by Culture Club - Do You Really Want To Hurt Me. McGee has chosen Boss of all Bosses - Slim Thug as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Justin Lynch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Buzzkill McGee!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, John Kavanagh and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lynch misses with a right hand
enabling McGee to counter with a crisp jab.
Lynch throws a leg kick
and McGee counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Lynch takes one on the chin but seems OK.
McGee misses with a body shot
and Lynch counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
McGee throws an off balance right hand
and McGee takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
McGee misses with an uppercut
and Lynch counters with a leg kick.
Lynch swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and McGee counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
McGee scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
McGee misses with a wild body shot.
McGee throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lynch cracks McGee with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Lynch takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

and Lynch counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps McGee thinking.
McGee ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Lynch pivots, looking for a leg kick but McGee is out of range and Lynch settles back down.

McGee lands with a straight right. Lynch didn't see that one coming.
McGee throws a nice looking combination but Lynch bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Lynch decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in McGee's guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Lynch stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McGee swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lynch accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
McGee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lynch. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lynch throws a strike but McGee rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
McGee slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Lynch has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

McGee works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGee keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
McGee wants to free his trapped foot but Lynch is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Well, if McGee is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Lynch regains full guard. Nicely done.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McGee is fighting to break Lynch's control of his arms but Lynch is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

A close round but Buzzkill McGee will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

McGee has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Lynch postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. McGee looks a forlorn figure.

Lynch jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… McGee is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by McGee and Lynch has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Lynch misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if McGee can do anything to dispel that myth.
The strikes coming from Lynch are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Lynch wants to control but McGee is keeping him busy.

Lynch swings around for an armbar but McGee sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Lynch's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

McGee wants to clinch up but Lynch keeps it at a distance.
Buzzkill McGee seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and McGee counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Lynch thinking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lynch lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Lynch takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Buzzkill McGee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lynch has taken the fight to the clinch.

Lynch drops to a knee looking for a takedown but McGee gets the underhooks and prevents it.

McGee chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Lynch can pounce on him.
McGee bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

McGee lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Lynch looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
McGee wants to get back to full guard.

McGee regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Lynch.
McGee not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

McGee is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lynch defends well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lynch postures up.
Lynch distracts McGee with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Lynch looking to sit in guard and control but McGee gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
McGee wants to stand and escape but instead Lynch has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
McGee is adopting a defensive guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Buzzkill McGee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think McGee has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
