Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Johnny Rico!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cobb Nash!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rico is looking to clinch but Nash is avoiding it.
Rico moves out of range as Nash strikes.
Rico fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Rico throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Nash tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Rico is in Nash's guard.
Rico is looking to work some ground and pound but Nash has wrist control.

Rico throws a strike but Nash rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Rico doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nash accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Nash distracts Rico with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Nash pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rico is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nash is pushing down on Rico's leg trying to pass to half guard. Rico is fighting to maintain full guard but Nash has managed to sneak the leg through.
Nash lands with a punch from half guard.

Rico wants to get back to full guard.

Nash is looking to pass Rico's guard but actually Rico recovers to full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Nash stays in close to Rico's body and controls the position.

Rico is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rico shoots for a double leg takedown but Nash sprawls well. He's pushed Rico's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Nash stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Rico. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rico closes the distance and clinches up with Nash, looking for a takedown. Rico pushes Nash against the cage but Nash circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rico is breathing heavily.

Nash lands a really nice looking cross but Rico seems unphased.
Rico avoids the body shot from Nash.

Nash scores with a takedown into Rico's guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Nash's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cobb Nash dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Nash's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Nash has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

It looks like Johnny Rico has been cut.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nash loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Rico scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Nash land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Nash stands and salutes the crowd.
