The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Snicklefritz jabbing away but nothing is landing.

It looks like James Johnson has been cut.
Snicklefritz misses with a double jab.
Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Snicklefritz.
Johnson shoots for a takedown but Snicklefritz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Snicklefritz throws out a loose jab but Johnson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Snicklefritz throws a lazy right hand but Johnson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Snicklefritz jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Johnson dodges the punch combination from Snicklefritz.

Johnson drives through and clinches with Snicklefritz against the cage.
Snicklefritz lands a body punch in the clinch.
Snicklefritz stops a takedown attempt from Johnson.
Snicklefritz is looking to break free of the clinch but Johnson has double underhooks.

Snicklefritz breaks the clinch.
Johnson slips under a jab from Snicklefritz.
Snicklefritz rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Johnson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Johnson scores with a takedown into Snicklefritz's guard.
Snicklefritz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Johnson's guard.

Johnson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Snicklefritz manages to get himself to full guard.
Johnson advances to half guard.
Johnson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Snicklefritz's head.
Snicklefritz tries to roll over but Johnson keeps him under control.

Johnson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Johnson is breathing heavily.

Johnson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Snicklefritz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Johnson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Snicklefritz has escaped the position, nice work there.
Snicklefritz is trying to get back to half guard.
Johnson in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Snicklefritz is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Johnson off and has taken his back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson covering up well and avoiding damage.
Johnson wants to escape the position.
Johnson manages to reverse the position and now he's in Snicklefritz's guard. Nice work there by Johnson.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Johnson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Johnson works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Johnson is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Snicklefritz is just riding it out for now. Johnson eventually gives up the hold.
Johnson passes the guard and advances to mount!
