Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rumple Chopkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ethan Dixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ethan Dixon is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rumple Chopkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ethan Dixon!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dixon fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chopkins.
Chopkins moves out of range as Dixon throws a body kick.
Dixon throws a head kick that misses
and Chopkins counters with a left and a right that stings Dixon.
Chopkins closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dixon circles away.
Chopkins misses with a takedown

and Dixon counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Dixon.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rumple Chopkins. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chopkins has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Dixon avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Chopkins is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Chopkins manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Dixon wants to control from the top but Chopkins keeps moving.
Chopkins knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dixon on the ground.
Dixon loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Dixon thows a big elbow that misses.
Chopkins keeping moving, preventing Dixon from controlling successfully.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Chopkins has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dixon can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Chopkins tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dixon stands and throws Chopkins's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Dixon is looking to take a break and control but Chopkins is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Dixon thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Dixon in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Dixon is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Chopkins knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Dixon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chopkins keeps working.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Dixon thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
You can see the frustration on Chopkins's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Chopkins is trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ethan Dixon dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Chopkins avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Chopkins.
Dixon throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Chopkins shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Dixon as he jumps to the side.
Dixon has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Chopkins finds it's way round the side to connect with Dixon's head.
Chopkins fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rumple Chopkins. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dixon gets a clinch.
Chopkins tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dixon smiles and moves away.

Dixon has managed to clinch.

Dixon is looking to break free of the clinch but Chopkins has double underhooks.
Dixon wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Chopkins has him pressed against the cage.
Dixon prevents the takedown attempt.
Dixon tries to circle away but Chopkins has him pinned against the cage.
Dixon is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Chopkins is keeping busy.

Chopkins's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Chopkins connects with a body shot.
Dixon tries to clinch up but Chopkins circles away and keeps his distance.

and Dixon counters by clinching up.
Chopkins tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Dixon smiles and moves away.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

and Chopkins counters with a thumping low kick.
Rumple Chopkins is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Sloppy strikes from Chopkins. Those never looked like landing.
No joy there for Chopkins, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Dixon misses with a body kick.
Chopkins throws a right hand that Dixon ducks under and follows up with a left that Dixon also avoids with ease.
Dixon fails to land the takedown.
Chopkins tries to clinch up
and Dixon counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dixon throws a lazy head kick

and Chopkins counters with a takedown into side control.
Chopkins creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Dixon sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Dixon is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Chopkins stands up and beckons Dixon to his feet.
Dixon wants to clinch but Chopkins slips to the side

and Chopkins counters by moving into the clinch.
Dixon tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Chopkins avoids it.

Dixon manages to break the clinch.
Chopkins throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Dixon stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Chopkins counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

and Chopkins counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dixon won't be happy with that.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Chopkins tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Chopkins has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Dixon is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Chopkins is controlling him well.

Chopkins tries for a kimura but Dixon is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The ground and pound from Chopkins seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rumple Chopkins dominated that second round.
That's time! Chopkins's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Dixon closes this distance looking for a takedown but Chopkins circles away.
Chopkins shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dixon sprawls well. Dixon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Chopkins gets slowly back to his feet.
Dixon falls off balance throwing a combination

and Chopkins counters with a shoot takedown. Dixon fights it but they end up in guard.
Chopkins's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Chopkins has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Chopkins tries to stand but Dixon is controlling from the bottom.
Chopkins working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Chopkins wanted to stand there but Dixon had control of the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Dixon uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Dixon moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Dixon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dixon moves in looking to clinch but Chopkins pushes him off.
Dixon closes the distance and clinches up with Chopkins, looking for a takedown. Dixon pushes Chopkins against the cage but Chopkins circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Chopkins forces Dixon back against the cage and clinches.
Chopkins drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Dixon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Dixon tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Chopkins paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A head kick misses from Dixon.

Chopkins scores a takedown into full mount!
Dixon trying desperately to get to his feet.

Dixon somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
Chopkins looks for a takedown but Dixon sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rumple Chopkins. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Dixon counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Dixon.

Chopkins drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Dixon gets the underhooks and prevents it.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Dixon takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Dixon with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Dixon is trying to push Chopkins away but Chopkins has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Chopkins tries for a takedown but Dixon manages to get underhooks.
Dixon misses with a shot to the kidneys.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Chopkins escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dixon lands a nice shot to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Dixon leaves Chopkins with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Chopkins tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dixon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Chopkins somewhat.
Dixon tries to clinch there but Chopkins circles away.
Dixon closes the distance looking to clinch

so Chopkins counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Dixon pushes Chopkins off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Chopkins moves out of range as Dixon throws a body kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rumple Chopkins showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Chopkins has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
