PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jutta Urpilainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dexter Redshaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Redshaw comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Maksim - Flight of the Bumblebee kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jutta Urpilainen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dexter Redshaw!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Summer Carpenter and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Urpilainen gets the takedown into side control.
Redshaw is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Redshaw is refusing to be controlled, as Urpilainen sits in half guard.
Urpilainen prevents Redshaw from improving his position.
Urpilainen blocks the strikes from Redshaw.
Redshaw regains full guard. Nicely done.
Urpilainen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Redshaw swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Urpilainen looking to sit in guard and control but Redshaw gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Redshaw postures up in Urpilainen's guard and throws a big left but Urpilainen blocks it.
Redshaw throws and elbow that misses. Urpilainen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Redshaw's guard. Nice move by Urpilainen!
Redshaw is trying to keep Urpilainen in close.

Urpilainen trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Redshaw tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Urpilainen tries to free his leg and advance position but Redshaw is retaining full guard.

Urpilainen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Urpilainen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Urpilainen drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Redshaw manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Urpilainen has Redshaw in his guard.
Urpilainen is trying to control the position but Redshaw postures up.
Urpilainen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Redshaw landing some decent shots from guard.
Urpilainen looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Redshaw puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Redshaw working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are battling for position here. Urpilainen manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Urpilainen is trying to hold Redshaw in close to prevent damage but Redshaw has managed to pass into half guard.
Urpilainen is looking to control Redshaw's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Urpilainen avoid being mounted?

Redshaw works his foot free and advances to mount.
Urpilainen is bucking up trying to escape but Redshaw cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Redshaw lands a big shot there that rocks Urpilainen but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Urpilainen tries to hold on but Redshaw pushes him away.
Urpilainen sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Urpilainen is looking for a sweep. Redshaw is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Redshaw is thwarting Urpilainen's attempts to control the position.

Urpilainen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Redshaw pulls his head out easily.

Redshaw wants to free his trapped foot but Urpilainen is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Urpilainen tries to roll over but Redshaw keeps him under control.

Redshaw is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Urpilainen sees it coming and defends easily.
Nice strikes from Redshaw there.

Urpilainen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Redshaw pulls his head out easily.
Urpilainen wants to sweep but Redshaw has passed to side control!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dexter Redshaw dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Urpilainen moves out of range of the body kick.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Redshaw lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Urpilainen has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Urpilainen and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Redshaw stands up and beckons Urpilainen to his feet.

Redshaw is trying to maintain a safe position but Urpilainen gets an underhook and turns Redshaw into the cage.

Urpilainen tightens his grip and picks Redshaw up, before dumping him to the ground. Redshaw manages to land in guard.
Urpilainen tries to free his leg and advance position but Redshaw is retaining full guard.
Urpilainen trying to control the position from guard on top but Redshaw is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Redshaw throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Redshaw is on top in guard.

Redshaw is looking to work some ground and pound but Urpilainen has wrist control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Urpilainen isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Redshaw stacks Urpilainen on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Redshaw!

Redshaw lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Redshaw pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Urpilainen seems to have got his legs back now.
Redshaw postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Urpilainen in real trouble here! The ref calls for Urpilainen to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dexter Redshaw!
