PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Desmond Nicoletti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alister Kruyf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nicoletti comes into the arena with Nightwish - Bye Bye Beautiful blaring out of the sound system. Kruyf has chosen Pride Theme tune as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Paul Tew and Andrew Berry.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kruyf misses with a hook
and Nicoletti counters with a stiff right hand.
Kruyf throws a sloppy head kick
and Nicoletti counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Kruyf throws a left and a right that both miss
and Nicoletti counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Nicoletti tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kruyf paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nicoletti is looking to clinch but Kruyf is avoiding it.
Kruyf misses with a body punch

and Nicoletti counters by clinching up.
Nicoletti throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Kruyf pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kruyf misses with a jab to the body

and Nicoletti holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Nicoletti tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Kruyf avoids it.
Nicoletti unloads a knee to the mid-section. Kruyf lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Kruyf is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Nicoletti's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Nicoletti with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.

Nicoletti missing with knees to the body.
Kruyf tries to break free but Nicoletti pushes him back against the cage.

Kruyf escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kruyf thows a leg kick but Nicoletti checks it
and Nicoletti counters with a nice body kick.
Kruyf falls off balance throwing a combination
and Nicoletti counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Nicoletti counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Kruyf throws a poor cross that misses
and Nicoletti makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Kruyf throws a sloppy head kick
and Nicoletti counters with a big head kick but Kruyf shrugs it off.
Nicoletti wants to clinch.

Kruyf swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Nicoletti counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Nicoletti.
Nicoletti prevents Kruyf from breaking the clinch.
Kruyf avoiding damage as Nicoletti throws knees to the body.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Nicoletti takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Kruyf pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Kruyf drops Nicoletti with a right and a left! Kruyf comes rushing in but Nicoletti regains his composure and manages to keep Kruyf in guard.

It looks like Desmond Nicoletti has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nicoletti is looking to stand back up but Kruyf counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Nicoletti.

Kruyf postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Nicoletti to stand up.
Nicoletti drops his hands for a split second and Kruyf immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Nicoletti face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Kruyf follows up with a right hand that knocks Nicoletti into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!
