PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Pace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pit Bull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bull is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Let The Bodies Hit The Floor. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Pit Bull was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Pace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pit Bull!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pace gets the takedown into side control.
Bull wants to get back to his feet but Pace drags him back down.
Bull parries the strikes from Pace easily there. Pace is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bull to escape.

Pace is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bull is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ground and pound from Pace seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Bull tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pace wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Pace lands some shots froms side control.

Pace tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Pace thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Bull is trying to control Pace's posture but Pace avoids it.
Pace has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bull gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Bull is looking to control Pace's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bull avoid being mounted?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bull tries to roll over but Pace keeps him under control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Pace has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bull finds it's way round the side to connect with Pace's head.
Bull misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bull tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bull looks gassed!
Bull throws a head kick but Pace moves out of range.

Pace closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Bull is looking to reverse the position.
Pace landing a few strikes.

Pace looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Pace is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bull knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Bull manages to work his way to half guard, despite Pace's best efforts.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pace lands a nice short elbow.
Pace frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Bull is bucking up trying to escape but Pace cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Pace is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bull can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Pace wants to finish this one by submission but Bull is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Pace.

Pace thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Pace seems to be looking for submissions.

Pace looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bull with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Bull won't allow Pace to pass to mount.

Bull is rocked!

Pace is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Bull has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Bull is still in real trouble! Can Pace finish him?
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pace scoring with strikes but Bull is staying in there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bull is in all sorts of trouble here.

Pace working for a guillotine from mount but Bull is in no mood to give up.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Pace's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Pace fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bull seems to have recovered his senses.
Bull pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bull missing with a left hand there. Pace was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Pace looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Pace clinches up against the cage.

Bull is fighting off a takedown attempt but Pace is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Bull to the mat. Bull regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Pace keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bull's head.

Pace drops back looking for a leg! Bull is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bull manages to kick Pace off! Pace jumps back into Bull's guard.
Bull lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pace!
Bull tries to control but Pace wriggling away.
Pace gets back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bull is pressing down on Pace's thigh, looking to free his foot. Pace is holding on for now.
Pace tries to get to full guard but Bull has control of the leg.
Bull perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Pace is trying to get back to full guard.
Bull seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pace does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Pace moves into full guard.
Bull is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Pace looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bull won't allow Pace to sweep him here.

Pace had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bull is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Pace Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bull's back instead.

Pace is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Bull is defending well though. Pace let's go of the attempt for now.
Bull is taking damage to the body and head.

Pace is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Pace gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Pace gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Pace apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Bull scores with a jab.
Pace shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bull as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Pace. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pace feints and as Bull raises his hands in defense, Pace changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pace stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bull swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pace is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Pace breaks from Bull's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Pace lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Bull hang on?
Bull manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Bull trying to hold on to Pace's head to control him but Pace postures up.

Bull is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Pace's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pace's back!

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Pace is in bad spot here.
Pace prevents Bull from getting a body triangle.
Bull has the hooks in. Pace is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Mark Pace overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Pace looking very determined here, making life difficult for Bull.
Bull really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Pace.
Pace rolls, trying to escape but Bull keeps control of the position.

Pace cracks Bull with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
