The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McScared throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Belfort's waist but Belfort gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McScared off to one side.

and McScared counters with a takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McScared wants to lay and pray for a moment but Belfort keeps working.

McScared wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Belfort, who protects the arm well.
Belfort is trying to buck McScared off.
McScared wants to control but Belfort is keeping him busy.

McScared decides to stand back up.

Belfort has his foot on McScared's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McScared works his way back into a safe position though.
Belfort can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McScared controls the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Belfort looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! McScared has picked Belfort up and slammed him! Belfort can't keep hold of the triangle and McScared manages to pass to side control!
Belfort is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
McScared wants to control but Belfort is keeping him busy.

McScared stands up and we're back to a striking position.
McScared looks gassed!

McScared stalks Belfort and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Belfort's face. Belfort staggers backwards, shaken.
McScared tries to work over Belfort's front leg with a kick but Belfort checks it.
Belfort is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

and McScared counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Belfort is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Belfort lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for McScared!
Oh Belfort is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
McScared is looking to improve his position but Belfort isn't that keen on the idea.
Belfort is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Belfort seems to have got his legs back now.

McScared avoids a series of strikes thrown by Belfort.

McScared wants to hold on but Belfort pushes him away.
McScared stops Belfort from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Belfort goes for an armbar but McScared turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from McScared.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
McScared is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Belfort wants to sweep but no luck.

Belfort looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Belfort manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. McScared manages to get himself to full guard.
Belfort wanted to stand there but McScared had control of the position.

Belfort postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! McScared is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Belfort, into his guard.

Belfort wriggles free and stands up.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

McScared closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Belfort to the mat! Belfort manages to get full guard.

Belfort is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scaredy McScared dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Belfort manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Belfort shoots in and drives through. McScared sprawls well.

Belfort wants to sweep here but McScared controlling him for the moment.

Belfort is working an open guard so McScared takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
McScared moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Belfort wants to clinch but McScared slips to the side
enabling McScared to counter with a crisp jab.
Belfort throws a hook but McScared avoids it easily.
Belfort lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - McScared can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Belfort and McScared drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Belfort.
