Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dwight Johnson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cobain looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Cobain is looking for a kimura but Johnson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cobain to get the leverage.
Cobain wants to free his trapped foot but Johnson is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Cobain is thwarting Johnson's attempts to control the position.
Cobain will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Cobain decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Cobain slips under a jab from Johnson.
Cobain swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson.
Cobain throws a series of punches but Johnson moves out of range.

and Johnson counters with a nice low kick that buckles Cobain's knee momentarily.

Cobain wanted to stand there but Johnson had control of the position.

Cobain wants to pass the guard but Johnson is keeping the position.
Cobain prevents Johnson from getting back to his feet.
Cobain wants to stand but Johnson is controlling his posture from full guard.
Cobain is breathing heavily.
Cobain stopping the sweep attempt from Johnson.

Johnson is looking for a triangle but Cobain pushes his legs off easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Johnson is on top in guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Johnson tries to stand but Cobain is controlling from the bottom.

Cobain knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Johnson on the ground.

Cobain utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

so Cobain counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Johnson preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Johnson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Cobain wants to get up but he can't break Johnson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Johnson controls Cobain momentarily but Cobain frees himself.
Johnson wants to stand and escape but Cobain is having none of it.
Cobain pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Johnson is keeping the position for now.
Cobain postures up in Johnson's guard and throws a big left but Johnson blocks it.
Johnson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cobain avoids the head kick by Johnson.
Johnson misses with a takedown attempt

and Cobain decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Johnson's guard.
Cobain would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Cobain decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Johnson, up you get!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Johnson prevents a takedown attempt there.
Cobain wants to get back to striking at distance but Johnson won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cobain wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Johnson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Cobain.
Johnson keeps control of Cobain as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Cobain swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Nice elbow from Johnson.
Johnson has had enough of the clinch but Cobain keeps him there for the moment.
Cobain drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Johnson gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Cobain. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Johnson pulls guard effortlessly.

Johnson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cobain gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Johnson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cobain wants to stand and escape but instead Johnson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cobain throws his legs up looking for a submission but Johnson uses it to pass to side control.
Cobain is trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Cobain dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Cobain closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Johnson has hold of Cobain's hands but Cobain slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Cobain stands up out of the half guard.
Frank Cobain is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A punch combination from Cobain misses.
Johnson fails with the takedown

and Cobain counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cobain.

Cobain decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cobain's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Cobain duly obliges.
Johnson doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Cobain counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Johnson manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Cobain has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnson is proving hard to escape from.
Johnson is trying to keep Cobain in close.
Cobain throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Cobain chips away with some ground and pound.

Cobain scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Cobain stands up over Johnson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Cobain stands up and waves to Johnson to follow him.

Johnson is rocked!
Cobain tries to close the distance and clinch up but Johnson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cobain is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Johnson can do to turn this around?
Cobain misses with a few strikes there.
Cobain looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Johnson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

and Cobain counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Johnson's guard now.
Frank Cobain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dwight Johnson.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cobain gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Cobain shoots in for a double leg but Johnson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Johnson throws out a loose jab but Cobain uses good head movement to avoid it.
Cobain connects with a stiff jab that staggers Johnson - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!
