PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between mike bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and jimmy the fist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 10 - 1, fighting out of London, mike bob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, jimmy the fist!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Atkins and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
the fist avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

bob shoots in and gets a takedown into the fist's guard.
bob really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
bob in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
bob pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. the fist is keeping the position for now.

bob stands and steps away. the fist gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
bob fails with the takedown.

the fist drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
the fist is looking to work some ground and pound but bob has wrist control.
bob has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
bob is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

the fist stands and steps away. bob gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

the fist closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming bob to the mat! bob manages to get full guard.
bob looking to hit a scissor sweep but the fist is one step ahead there.

the fist trying to control the position from guard on top but bob is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
bob not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
the fist is fighting to break bob's control of his arms but bob is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
the fist would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
bob on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if bob tries to get out of the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

the fist feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

the fist's corner is telling him to maintain position.

the fist tries to free his leg and advance position but bob is retaining full guard.
bob not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
bob utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
bob is breathing heavily.
the fist stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. bob swivels though and keeps the full guard.
bob can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as the fist controls the pace.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

jimmy the fist has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
the fist scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
the fist jabs bob right on the nose. bob blinks but takes it well.
bob tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. the fist manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
bob is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
jimmy the fist seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

the fist feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

the fist postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
the fist working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
the fist throwing strikes but missing.
the fist wants to get up but he can't break bob's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
the fist really doesn't want to stay on the ground with bob. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

the fist loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
the fist postures up in bob's guard and throws a big left but bob blocks it.
the fist wants to control from the top but bob keeps moving.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
the fist controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
bob will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by jimmy the fist.
the fist connects with a good right hand that stumbles bob. bob circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
the fist's jab looks to have found its range, popping bob under the eye.
the fist throws a combination but it was largely blocked by bob.
the fist lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by the fist.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

the fist decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
the fist prevents bob from improving his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

jimmy the fist dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

the fist creates some space and throws a big elbow, but bob sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
bob is looking to reverse the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
the fist in side control, just content to control the action for now.

the fist's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
the fist lands a decent elbow from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
bob is working to avoid the ground and pound but the fist connects with a decent elbow.

the fist working the head with strikes.

bob tries to improve position but can't.
the fist happy to just control the position for now.

the fist misses with the ground and pound.
the fist scores with a couple of short elbows.
the fist slows the pace down.
Let's hope that the fist has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

bob is not content to let the fist control the position.
bob is trying to get back to half guard.

bob misses with an elbow from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
the fist lands an elbow.
bob takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
the fist trying to control the position but bob is working away.
bob takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
the fist connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused bob some visible discomfort.

the fist stands up.

the fist closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A cross from the fist lands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

jimmy the fist showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


bob takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
the fist cracks a nice hook into bob's ribs.
bob tries to close the distance and clinch up but the fist swats him away and circles back towards the center.
bob has his takedown stuffed

and the fist counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in bob's guard now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

the fist got a little sloppy there for a moment and bob has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, the fist has managed to get both his arms back between bob's legs - danger averted.

bob is working an open guard so the fist takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

the fist passes bob's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
bob is trying to maintain the position but the fist is very close to passing his half guard.
the fist is nestled in close to bob, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Well, if the fist is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

the fist scores with a hook to the body. bob takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
A lazy left from the fist finds it's target.

jimmy the fist comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well the fist has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
