Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mike Thai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joao Kleberson!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thai throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kleberson tries a head kick but it misses.
Kleberson blocks a head kick by Thai.
A good leg kick by Kleberson.
Kleberson throws a leg kick which misses Thai's front leg but catches the back leg as Thai tries to avoid it.
Thai throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Kleberson counters with a good low kick that Thai was not able to check.
Thai throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Kleberson's head.


It looks like Joao Kleberson has been cut.

and Thai counters with a big head kick but Kleberson shrugs it off.
Joao Kleberson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Kleberson counters with a nice leg kick.

and Thai counters with a single leg into guard. Kleberson didn't expect that.

and Thai counters with a single leg into guard. Kleberson didn't expect that.
Kleberson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Thai controls the pace.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Mike Thai has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Mike Thai overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Thai decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mike Thai.
Kleberson lands with a kick to the temple. Thai shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Thai seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

and Thai counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Thai pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Thai counters with a good low kick that Kleberson was not able to check.
Kleberson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

and Thai counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kleberson's guard now.

Thai seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kleberson for as long as he can get away with.
Kleberson can't keep his opponent in guard - Thai advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Kleberson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Joao Kleberson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Thai looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

We're going to have a standup here because Mike Thai wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Thai closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kleberson quickly recovers to half guard.
Thai is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kleberson can do to turn this around?
Thai is taking a breather. Kleberson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Thai has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
