PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bret McCoy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adrian peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Bret McCoy has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Bret McCoy seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bret McCoy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Adrian peterson!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
peterson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and McCoy counters with a nice uppercut.

peterson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows McCoy to score an easy takedown into full guard.
McCoy sitting in guard here, content to control.
peterson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McCoy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
McCoy wants to control from the top but peterson keeps moving.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if peterson can do anything to dispel that myth.
McCoy's corner is telling him to maintain position.
McCoy connects with a couple of short punches.
McCoy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. peterson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
peterson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
McCoy works a leg free and moves into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
peterson is not content to let McCoy control the position.

McCoy is working for a kimura but peterson is defending it quite comfortably.
McCoy thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed peterson's head.
peterson tries to regain full guard. Instead though, McCoy has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
peterson taking shots to the head.
McCoy working away from the top, dropping strikes.
peterson is working to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McCoy wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
McCoy landing strikes from the mount and peterson is in trouble!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

McCoy is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but peterson is surviving well by controlling McCoy's body position as best he can.

McCoy looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
McCoy scoring with strikes but peterson is staying in there.
McCoy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as peterson is looking to escape.
McCoy putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
peterson has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

peterson is trying to escape but he's just digging himself into more trouble. McCoy manages to sink in the hooks and gets a rear naked choke to end the fight in impressive fashion.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bret McCoy!
