Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Getty Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mendes has chosen All Of The Lights as his entrance music. Chad Mendes struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.2lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Steve Montenegro and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes tries to clinch but Li moves away
and Li counters with a stiff right hand.
Chad Mendes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mendes with a lazy takedown attempt
and Li counters with a straight right hand.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Li lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Mendes has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Li is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Li breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Li closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Li wants to control but Mendes is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Li controls the position.
Li decides to stand back up.
Li feints and as Mendes raises his hands in defense, Li changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Li wants to stand but Mendes has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Li is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Mendes wants to stand and escape but Li is having none of it.

Li closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mendes to the mat! Mendes manages to get full guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Mendes tries for a takedown but Li circles away easily
and Li counters by clinching up.
Li manages to break the clinch.
Li uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Li lands with a nice body kick.
Li throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Li works over Mendes's head and body with a nice combination.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Li looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Mendes is breathing heavily.

Li bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mendes parries the strikes from Li easily there. Li is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Mendes to escape.
