PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Vegas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Kraken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vegas kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Don't Stop The Rock by Freestyle. Kraken is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Battle Without Honor Or Humanity. The Kraken has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Johnny Vegas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, The Kraken!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vegas misses with a two punch combination.
Vegas throws a right and a left that both miss.
Johnny Vegas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kraken uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Vegas.
Vegas throws a half hearted mid kick.
A punch combination from Vegas misses.
Vegas lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Vegas.
A punch lands to the side of Kraken 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Kraken shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Vegas fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Vegas feints a jab promting Kraken to slip. Vegas then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kraken slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kraken throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Vegas tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kraken is in Vegas's guard.
Kraken won't allow Vegas to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kraken stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vegas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kraken in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Kraken slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Kraken is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Vegas is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Vegas has escaped and now he's on top!
Vegas stops Kraken from standing up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kraken bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Vegas's guard.
Vegas wants to stand and escape but Kraken is having none of it.
Kraken passes Vegas's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Kraken with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
I looks like Kraken might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Kraken stalling.

Kraken is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Kraken moves nicely into side control.
You can see the frustration on Vegas's face as Kraken controls the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sloppy strikes there by Kraken.
Kraken throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Kraken misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Vegas is letting Kraken control him for a moment.
Vegas tries to escape but Kraken is in control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vegas takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Check out the look on Kraken's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Kraken takes a little break here. Vegas wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The Kraken dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Vegas looks to clinch

and Kraken holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Vegas's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Vegas working aggressively here.
Vegas has a couple of punches blocked by Kraken.
Vegas trying to stall but Kraken improves his position.
Vegas tries to break the clinch but Kraken is controlling the position.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Vegas is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Kraken.
Kraken tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Vegas smiles and moves away.
Kraken scores with a shot to the body.
Vegas fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Vegas moves to clinch but Kraken breaks away

and Kraken counters with a nice double leg into side control. Vegas won't be happy with that.
Vegas stops Kraken from passing to mount.
Kraken has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee asks Kraken politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Kraken prefers to stall for the moment though.
Vegas pushes Kraken away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kraken gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Kraken passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Vegas!

Kraken looking to finish Vegas with some ground and pound. This is bad for Vegas!
Vegas is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Vegas is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Kraken lands with some strikes.
A nice elbow there by Kraken.
Kraken controlling his opponent.
Vegas squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kraken looking to control and managing it successfully.
BOOM! Kraken connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Kraken in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kraken unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Vegas wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Kraken celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). The Kraken!
