PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bryann Melebo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eric White!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bryann Melebo!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White tries to score a power double leg takedown but Melebo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten White somewhat.
White takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Eric White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
White takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
White closes the distance but Melebo moves to the side
and Melebo counters with a nice uppercut.

White gets the takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
White content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Melebo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
White in side control, throwing shots but Melebo defends.
Melebo manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Melebo passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for White!
White might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
White wants to control but Melebo is having none of it.

White is trying desperately to improve position.
White just holding on.

Melebo looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
White has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
White swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Melebo lands a big shot there that rocks White but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
White is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Melebo looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
White wants to control but Melebo is having none of it.

Melebo fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The referee warns White that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
White is trying to escape the mount.

Melebo is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, White has managed to escape the submission attempt.
White is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Melebo is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Melebo blocks White's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Melebo blocks White's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Melebo prevents White from getting the reversal.
White regains half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
White tries to get to full guard but Melebo has control of the leg.
Melebo moves into full mount! White won't be happy about that!
White is looking to get to half guard.
Melebo breaks from White's wrist control and lands an elbow.
White regains half guard.
White works his way to full guard. Good work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

White is looking for a triangle but Melebo pushes his legs off easily.
Melebo postures up and lands a big shot to White's brow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bryann Melebo dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


White shoots in looking for a takedown but Melebo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing White's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
White shoots for a double leg takedown but Melebo sprawls well. He's pushed White's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eric White. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Melebo connects with a high kick.
Melebo scores with a head kick. White tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
White on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

A head kick lands from Melebo that sends White to the canvas. White tries to scramble back to his feet but Melebo brings him back down into side control.
Oh White is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!


It looks like Eric White has been cut.

Melebo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
White can't do much from the bottom here.
White seems to have got his legs back now.
White is looking for a sweep.
Melebo tries to move into full mount but can't pass White's legs.

Melebo tries for a kimura but White is defending well.
Melebo throwing shots but missing, from side control.
White manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Melebo seems to be looking for submissions.
Melebo is breathing heavily.
White avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Melebo.
Melebo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Melebo passes into side control, despite White's attempt to control the position.
White gets back to half guard.
Melebo is thwarting White's attempts to control the position.
White makes his way to full guard. A much better position for White.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
White strikes from his own guard.
White looking to hit a scissor sweep but Melebo is one step ahead there.

Melebo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. White swivels though and keeps the full guard.

White is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Melebo is aware though and is defending well.

Melebo got a little sloppy there for a moment and White has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Melebo has managed to get both his arms back between White's legs - danger averted.
White manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Melebo manages to get himself to full guard.

White is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Melebo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Melebo has escaped and now he's on top!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Melebo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
White manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
White tries to control but Melebo wriggling away.
White pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
White lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Melebo takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
White looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Melebo covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
