Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boyd Lucas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Boyd Lucas has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Boyd Lucas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Stevens!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lucas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stevens manages to avoid it.
A telegraphed right hand from Lucas misses the target.
Stevens on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Lucas throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Stevens.

Stevens darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Lucas gets full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stevens accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Stevens throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lucas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Lucas is trying to keep Stevens in close.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

John Stevens has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Lucas is looking to control Stevens's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lucas avoid being mounted?

Stevens fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lucas avoids it really well and circles away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Stevens tries to free his leg and advance position but Lucas is retaining full guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Stevens is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Lucas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Stevens distracts Lucas with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

OK we're going to have a standup here. John Stevens hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

John Stevens showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Lucas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Lucas throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Stevens takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Lucas lands a nice looking body shot.
Lucas dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Lucas throws a right and a left that Stevens avoids nicely.
Stevens will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lucas tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Stevens was well out of range. Poor timing from Lucas.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Stevens is looking to stand back up but Lucas counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Stevens.
Lucas is pressing down on Stevens's thigh, looking to free his foot. Stevens is holding on for now.

I think Stevens has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
