PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gunnar Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Masahiko Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Gunnar Nelson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Gunnar Nelson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Masahiko Kimura!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kimura enables Nelson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kimura manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Kimura looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Nelson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kimura looking for a guillotine here but Nelson defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nelson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Nelson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Kimura is trying to maintain the position but Nelson is very close to passing his half guard.

Nelson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee warns Kimura that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Nelson loads up with a big shot that hurts Kimura! He's pulled Nelson in close but Nelson has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Kimura survive? More strikes from Nelson and Kimura is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Gunnar Nelson!
