PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Cavalera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brian Wilson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Max Cavalera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brian Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilson throws a left and a right that both miss
and Cavalera counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Wilson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
enabling Cavalera to counter with a crisp jab.
Wilson misses with a shot to the body
and Cavalera counters with a nice uppercut.
Wilson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Cavalera lands a jab to Wilson's midsection.
Wilson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cavalera's waist but Cavalera gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wilson off to one side.
Wilson looks to score with a jab to the body but Cavalera is just out of range.

Cavalera's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Cavalera counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

A looping hook to the body misses from Cavalera. Wilson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Cavalera fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wilson manages to avoid it.
The crowd cheers as Cavalera lands an impressive looking overhand right. Wilson doesn't seem phased though.

and Cavalera counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Wilson thinking.
Cavalera digs a good body shot into Wilson's ribs.

and Cavalera counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Cavalera feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Cavalera makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Cavalera lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Cavalera counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Wilson thinking.
