PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roberto Sanchez Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Chris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul Chris will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roberto Sanchez Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Chris!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sanchez Jr gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Chris goes for a takedown attempt but Sanchez Jr pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Chris is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Chris is working Sanchez Jr over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Chris looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sanchez Jr with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Sanchez Jr has hold of Chris's hands but Chris slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Chris connects with a nice short shot to Sanchez Jr's temple.

Paul Chris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Chris tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sanchez Jr sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Chris somewhat.
Chris shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

Sanchez Jr has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Chris avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Chris wants to break free but Sanchez Jr has control.

Sanchez Jr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chris doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chris manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Chris wants to control from the top but Sanchez Jr keeps moving.
Chris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanchez Jr swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Paul Chris was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Chris cracks Sanchez Jr with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Chris looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sanchez Jr is fending him off so far but Chris persists. Nope, Sanchez Jr circles away and we're back to standing.

and Sanchez Jr counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Chris is lucky that one didn't land flush.

I think Chris has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
