Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Jorge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jasper Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jasper Wright will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Jorge!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jasper Wright!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jorge avoids a punch combination nicely.
Wright misses with a double jab.
Wright tries to clinch there but Jorge circles away.
Wright lands a glancing blow to the side of Jorge's head.
Nice sprawl there from Wright as Jorge shoots in.
Wright misses with a hook. Jorge ducked under it nicely.
Jorge with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Wright to score with a decent uppercut.
Wright lands a nice shot that snaps Jorge's head back.
Wright connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Wright swats away the attempt to clinch by Jorge.

and Jorge counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jorge.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jorge chips away with some ground and pound.

Jorge is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wright can do anything to dispel that myth.

Wright is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Wright goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jorge prevents it.
Wright has had enough of the clinch but Jorge keeps him there for the moment.

Jorge gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Jorge wants to control from the top but Wright keeps moving.
Jorge's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Jorge passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Wright is pushing Jorge's head away, looking to escape. Jorge manages to hold on to the position though.

The strikes coming from Jorge are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Jorge wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wright keeps working.
Wright really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jorge. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jorge wants to control but Wright is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Jorge dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A punch lands to the side of Jorge 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Wright is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Jorge scores with a jab to the body.
Wright misses with a hook. Jorge ducked under it nicely.
Jorge moves in looking to clinch but Wright pushes him off.

and Jorge counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Wright's guard now.
Jorge has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jorge wants to control from the top but Wright keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of James Jorge.
A punch combination from Wright misses.
Horrible takedown by Jorge or perhaps it was just good defense by Wright which made him look bad.
Jorge shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wright but Wright pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Wright pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Jorge back to the cage. Wright follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

A body shot lands from Jorge.

Wright wants the takedown. Jorge is fighting it off but Wright persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Jorge's guard against the cage.
Jorge might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Jorge seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Jorge is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Wright frees his head nicely. Oh but Jorge has switched to an armbar! Wright is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). James Jorge!
