Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between jon cockren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keijo Kynis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Keijo Kynis will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, jon cockren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Keijo Kynis!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
cockren tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Kynis counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
No joy there for Kynis, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kynis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Keijo Kynis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
cockren shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kynis defends it nicely.
cockren shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kynis as he avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
cockren shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kynis but Kynis pushes him off and we're back to square one.

cockren closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kynis circles away.

Kynis throws an uppercut from half a mile away. cockren sees it coming and avoids it easily.
cockren misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
cockren tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Kynis counters with a stiff right hand.
cockren walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Kynis misses with a double jab

and cockren counters with a shoot takedown. Kynis fights it but they end up in guard.

cockren wants to control from the top but Kynis keeps moving.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kynis can do anything to dispel that myth.
cockren wants to pass the guard but Kynis is keeping the position.

cockren drops back looking for a leg! Kynis is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kynis manages to kick cockren off! cockren jumps back into Kynis's guard.
cockren missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Kynis looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kynis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst cockren is controlling him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
cockren stands up over Kynis, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

A close round but Keijo Kynis will probably get the nod.

and cockren decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kynis's guard.
cockren stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kynis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
cockren's corner is telling him to maintain position.
cockren postures up in Kynis's guard and throws a big left but Kynis blocks it.

Kynis is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Keijo Kynis.
Kynis throws a combination but it was largely blocked by cockren.

cockren shoots in but Kynis avoids the takedown attempt easily.
cockren showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kynis.
Kynis moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
cockren shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kynis pinned against the cage. Kynis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
cockren looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kynis is fending him off so far but cockren persists. Nope, Kynis circles away and we're back to standing.

Kynis stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kynis wants it to stay on the feet.

Kynis throws a right and a left that cockren avoids nicely.
cockren shoots in for a takedown but Kynis shows good takedown defense.

Kynis throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Kynis fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Keijo Kynis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

enabling Kynis to counter with a crisp jab.

Kynis pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces cockren back to the cage. Kynis follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keijo Kynis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

so cockren counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

cockren drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and cockren jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kynis lands a straight punch to the body, keeping cockren at a distance.
Kynis moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

cockren shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kynis sprawls well. Kynis wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. cockren gets slowly back to his feet.
cockren takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Kynis lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but cockren circles away quickly and effectively.

Kynis tries to bum rush cockren with a series of wild strikes but cockren uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
