The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Smith throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Smith enables Blanco to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Smith manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Blanco drops back looking for a leg! Smith is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Smith manages to kick Blanco off! Blanco jumps back into Smith's guard.
Blanco throws a big right hand that misses.
Smith can't keep his opponent in guard - Blanco advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Blanco perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Blanco is trying to work for a kimura but Smith is defending well.

Blanco looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Smith tries to kick Blanco off but Blanco keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Blanco looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Blanco. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
