PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alexandre Calil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Walter Montillo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Calil's entrance music is One. A fine choice. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calil fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Montillo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Calil keeping moving, preventing Montillo from controlling successfully.
Montillo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Calil swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Calil looking for a guillotine here but Montillo defends easily.
Calil will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Calil is breathing heavily.
Montillo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Calil is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Montillo is aware though and is defending well.

Calil really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Montillo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Calil's head.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Montillo is looking to take a break and control but Calil is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Calil is trying to control but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Walter Montillo hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Montillo throws a head kick that misses.

and Calil counters with a shoot takedown. Montillo fights it but they end up in guard.
Montillo wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Calilis looking to pass into half guard but Montillo pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Montillo is in guard.

Calil has his foot on Montillo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Montillo works his way back into a safe position though.
