PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Genosuke mazamashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Rocha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). mazamashi comes to the cage accompanied by fighting road. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Genosuke mazamashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Carlos Rocha!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A solid body kick from mazamashi.
Rocha misses with a lunging right hand
and mazamashi counters with a solid body kick.
A low kick from Rocha is predictable there
and mazamashi counters with an outside leg kick.
Rocha rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and mazamashi counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Rocha misses with a combination
and mazamashi counters with a body kick that stops Rocha in his tracks momentarily.
mazamashi misses with a head kick.
mazamashi throws a sloppy head kick and Rocha moves out of range easily.
Rocha misses with a takedown attempt
and mazamashi counters with a thumping low kick.
Rocha avoids a punch combination nicely.

and mazamashi counters with a flying knee. Nice.

and mazamashi counters with a series of strikes. Rocha will be more careful next time no doubt.
mazamashi tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Rocha tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

mazamashi dodges the ground and pound from Rocha.
mazamashi parries the strikes from Rocha easily there. Rocha is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable mazamashi to escape.
mazamashi is pushing Rocha's head away, looking to escape. Rocha manages to hold on to the position though.

mazamashi is breathing heavily.
Rocha throws a strike aimed at the side of mazamashi's head but mazamashi avoids it well.

Rocha working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Rocha lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Rocha advances to mount.
Rocha cracks mazamashi with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rocha has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of mazamashi's face.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rocha lands a big elbow.

Rocha moves into range and connects with a jab.
Rocha dodges the punch combination from mazamashi.
Rocha throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and mazamashi makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rocha.
Rocha moves out of range as mazamashi throws a body kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carlos Rocha seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

mazamashi throws a sloppy head kick and Rocha moves out of range easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rocha misses with a takedown
and mazamashi counters with a three punch combo that has Rocha backing up. Rocha nods at mazamashi to acknowledge the strikes.
Genosuke mazamashi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Rocha.

and mazamashi counters with a nice body kick.

and mazamashi counters with a big head kick but Rocha shrugs it off.

and mazamashi counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Rocha is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Rocha fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. mazamashi sprawls well initially but Rocha persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Rocha stops mazamashi from getting back to his feet.
mazamashi on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Rocha has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Rocha is nestled in close to mazamashi, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Rocha working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Rocha is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so mazamashi is just riding it out for now. Rocha eventually gives up the hold.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rocha passes the guard and advances to mount!

Carlos Rocha showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Rocha fakes a jab and throws a low kick but mazamashi checks it well.
Rocha moves into range and connects with a jab.

A momentary lapse in concentration from mazamashi enables Rocha to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. mazamashi manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Rocha stops mazamashi from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rocha stands up over mazamashi, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rocha with a flurry of punches that miss.

Rocha pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. mazamashi is keeping the position for now.
Rocha sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed mazamashi's guard.
Rocha thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Carlos Rocha has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rocha scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Rocha is nestled in close to mazamashi, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
mazamashi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if mazamashi tries to get out of the position.
Rocha wants to free his trapped foot but mazamashi is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Rocha moves nicely into side control.

Rocha moves into full mount!
mazamashi is bucking up trying to escape but Rocha cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Rocha pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Rocha lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rocha looking to finish mazamashi with some ground and pound. This is bad for mazamashi!
Carlos Rocha is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rocha takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
You get the feeling that mazamashi really doesn't like being in this position too much.

And that's the end of the fight!
Carlos Rocha comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Rocha winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
