PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ebanij Nasos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nasos comes to the cage accompanied by Military Soviet Hymn . Ebanij Nasos has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ebanij Nasos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rob Williams!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Williams lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.


It looks like Ebanij Nasos has been cut.
Williams misses with a jab, cross combination.
Nasos gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Nasos shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Williams defends it nicely.
Williams bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Nasos's head.
A big left from Williams misses.
Nasos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Williams as he jumps to the side.
A big right from Williams misses.
Williams misses the body punch

and Nasos counters with a shoot takedown. Williams fights it but they end up in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nasos pushes down on Williams's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Williams blocking the ground and pound attempt from Nasos.
Nasos stops Williams from getting back to his feet.
Nasos wants to pass to mount but Williams is defending the position.
Nasos has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Nasos thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Williams's head.

Nasos is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Williams is trying to get back to full guard.
Nasos wants to take a breather but Williams is having none of it.
Williams is trying to control but can't.
Williams is looking to escape.

Nasos is working for a kimura but Williams is defending it quite comfortably.

Nasos seems to be working for a kimura but Williams defends the submission attempt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Nasos is trying to control the action in half guard but Williams is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Nasos tries to pass to full mount but Williams defends it.

Nasos is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Williams sees it coming and defends easily.
Williams blocking the ground and pound attempt from Nasos.

Williams manages to get to full guard.
Williams keeping moving, preventing Nasos from controlling successfully.
Williams is adopting a defensive guard.
Nasos trying to control the position from guard on top but Williams is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Williams is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nasos is aware though and is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Nasos looking to pass the guard.
Nasos throws a strike but Williams rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Nasos looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Nasos trying to keep a closed guard but Williams is proving a slippery customer.
Nasos will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Nasos wants to sweep but no luck.
Williams must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Nasos is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Williams tries to stand but Nasos is controlling from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rob Williams will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Ebanij Nasos's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Williams throws out a powerful jab.
Nasos tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Williams manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A big left from Williams misses.
Williams swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nasos.
Williams stuns Nasos with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Williams misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ebanij Nasos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nasos tries for a takedown but Williams sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Williams misses with a lunging right hand
and Nasos counters with a nice body kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nasos is looking to clinch.

Nasos scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Nasos stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Nasos moves into range and clinches up with Williams.

Nasos drags the fight down to the ground.
Williams is breathing heavily.

Nasos is trying to control the position but Williams postures up.
Nasos looking to hit a scissor sweep but Williams is one step ahead there.

Nasos has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Williams can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Nasos wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Williams trying to control the position from guard on top but Nasos is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Williams throws a strike but Nasos rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Nasos drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Williams manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nasos has Williams in his guard.
Williams really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nasos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nasos is trying to control the position but Williams postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Williams content to stall in guard here.

Nasos working for a triangle but Williams defends it easily.
Nasos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Williams wanted to stand there but Nasos had control of the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Nasos is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nasos not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Williams avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Nasos keeping moving, preventing Williams from controlling successfully.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nasos controls Williams momentarily but Williams frees himself.
Nasos lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Williams!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ebanij Nasos dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Ebanij Nasos's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Nasos dives in and grabs Williams's left leg, looking for a takedown. Williams pushes down on Nasos's head and hops out.
Williams lands with a cross.
Nasos ducks under a wild hook from Williams.
Williams misses the jab.
Williams pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Williams circles away from the clinch attempt.
Williams misses with a double jab

and Nasos counters with a head kick that drops Williams to the mat! Williams scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Rob Williams seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Nasos tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Williams counters with a left and a right that stings Nasos.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The fighters circle, before Nasos throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Williams's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Nasos lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Ebanij Nasos!
