Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Czar Maul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Omar Munich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Czar Maul has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Czar Maul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Omar Munich!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maul forces Munich back against the cage and clinches.
Munich is pressed up against the cage. Maul has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Munich down to the mat. Munich avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Maul shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Maul not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Maul throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Munich is trying to get back to full guard.
Maul content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Maul has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Maul postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Munich to stand up.

Munich darts in trying to clinch

and Maul counters with a head kick that drops Munich to the mat! Munich scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Maul throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Maul uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Munich.
Munich shoots in looking for a takedown. Maul tries to sprawl out of it but Munich keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Maul manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Maul shoots in for a takedown but Munich shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Omar Munich seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Maul counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Maul.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Munich has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Maul is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Maul is pushing Munich up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Maul tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Munich got a little sloppy there for a moment and Maul has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Munich has managed to get both his arms back between Maul's legs - danger averted.
Maul seems keen to control Munich's posture.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Maul is trying to drag Munich to the mat but Munich just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Maul jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Munich walks away with a smile on his face. Maul gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Munich throws a leg kick which misses Maul's front leg but catches the back leg as Maul tries to avoid it.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Munich bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Maul's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Czar Maul wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Munich looks to throw a body kick

and Maul counters with a single leg into guard. Munich didn't expect that.
Maul stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Munich swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Munich is breathing heavily.

Maul shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Munich defends it nicely.

Maul bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Maul is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Munich will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Munich is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Maul off and has taken his back!
Maul tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Munich takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Maul's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Well Maul has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
