Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tim Howe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gunnar Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Gunnar Nelson enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tim Howe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gunnar Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nelson misses with a hook to the body
and Howe counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Howe feints and as Nelson raises his hands in defense, Howe changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Howe missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Howe thows a big elbow that misses.
Nelson has his hands on Howe's head, controlling the position.
Nelson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Howe manages to get himself to full guard.
Howe wants to sweep but no luck.
Nelson trying to control the position from guard on top but Howe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nelson passes into half guard.

Nelson is thwarting Howe's attempts to control the position.

Nelson sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Howe defending well though.
Nelson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Howe is trying to stand back up but Nelson is controlling him
Nelson moves nicely into side control.

Nelson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Howe knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Howe is pushing Nelson's head away, looking to escape. Nelson manages to hold on to the position though.

Nelson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Nelson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Howe pushes Nelson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Nelson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Nelson is covering up but some of the strikes from Howe are getting through and doing damage.
Nelson tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Howe unloads with some shots from mount but Nelson bucks and avoids them well.

Howe misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Nelson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Howe landing strikes from the mount and Nelson is in trouble!
Nelson is desperately trying to improve his position but Howe has a good base and remains in mount.
Howe pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Nelson is wriggling around trying to escape.
Nelson tries to hold on but Howe postures up.

Howe is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Nelson has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Nelson!
Howe is trying to control the position but Nelson postures up.
Howe manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Howe prevents Nelson from getting the reversal.
Nelson holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Howe tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Howe unloads with some shots from mount but Nelson bucks and avoids them well.
Nelson avoids a series of strikes thrown by Howe.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Howe dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Howe misses with a few strikes there.
Nelson with a nice cross.
Howe fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Nelson swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Howe closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Howe lands in his opponent's guard.

Nelson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Howe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Howe manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Tim Howe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Nelson is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Howe with a flurry of punches that miss.
Howe lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Howe is looking to work some ground and pound but Nelson has wrist control.
Nelson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Nelson controlling the position easily from mount.
Nelson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Howe tries to hold on but Nelson postures up.

Nelson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Howe's face.

Nelson is landing with some decent strikes but Howe is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.


It looks like Tim Howe has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nelson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Nelson landing punches.
Howe can't escape the position.
Howe wants to hold on but Nelson pushes him away.
Howe tries to buck Nelson off but he can't manage it.
Nelson with a couple of short strikes.
Nelson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Howe can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


Howe is rocked!
Howe in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Oh Howe is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Nelson drops a big elbow. That's hurt Howe! More shots from Nelson and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
