PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jay Rich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Acevedes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Acevedes has chosen California Love as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Marcus Acevedes is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jay Rich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marcus Acevedes!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rich with a poor takedown
and Acevedes cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Rich gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Acevedes counters with a straight right hand.
Rich with a lazy takedown attempt
enabling Acevedes to counter with a crisp jab.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Rich. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rich throws a combination. Acevedes tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Rich misses with a looping right.
Acevedes misses with a straight left.
Rich throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Rich dodges the punch combination from Acevedes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Acevedes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rich parries the strikes from Acevedes easily there. Acevedes is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rich to escape.
Rich tries to improve position but can't.

Acevedes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Acevedes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sloppy strikes there by Acevedes.
Rich can't do much from the bottom here.

Acevedes thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Rich is looking for a sweep.

Acevedes is trying to get an arm triangle but Rich is defending well.
Rich dodges the ground and pound from Acevedes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Acevedes throws a strike aimed at the side of Rich's head but Rich avoids it well.
Rich can't do much from the bottom here.
Rich trying his best to control but Acevedes has mounted him.

Acevedes looking for a guillotine from mount but Rich is having none of it.
Rich tries to reverse the position but Acevedes maintains control.
Acevedes sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Acevedes pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Acevedes lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Rich is trying desperately to improve position.
Rich is working hard here to advance position.
Rich wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Acevedes.
Rich really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Rich is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Acevedes prevents Rich from getting the reversal.
Rich on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rich tries to get out of the position.
Rich takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Acevedes prevents Rich from getting the reversal.
Rich holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Acevedes tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Acevedes looking to ground and pound but Rich is blocking nicely.
Acevedes fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Acevedes lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Acevedes is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Acevedes extends the arm and Rich is forced to tap!
