Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gegard Mousasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lance Ewan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gegard Mousasi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lance Ewan!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mousasi shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Mousasi wants to pass the guard but Ewan is defending well.
Mousasi missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Mousasi seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Ewan desperately trying to maintain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ewan wants to improve his position but Mousasi is controlling well.
Ewan should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Mousasi is taking a breather. Ewan says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Ewan is looking for a sweep. Mousasi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Mousasi thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Mousasi sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Ewan defending well though.
Mousasi with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ewan blocks a head kick by Mousasi.
Mousasi avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Ewan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Mousasi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ewan was covering up waiting for the punch and Mousasi finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Ewan is controlling Mousasi's posture.

Ewan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mousasi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mousasi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ewan looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Mousasi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Ewan tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ewan is trying to keep Mousasi in close.

Ewan has Mousasi pulled in close to control his posture.
Mousasi trying to control the position from guard on top but Ewan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mousasi postures up in Ewan's guard and throws a big left but Ewan blocks it.

We're going to have a standup here because Gegard Mousasi wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Mousasi shoots in looking for a takedown but Ewan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mousasi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Mousasi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ewan circles away quickly and effectively.

Mousasi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Ewan tries to roll over but Mousasi keeps him under control.
Mousasi throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The fighters are battling for position here. Ewan manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ewan is on top in guard.
Ewan looks gassed!
Ewan stands up over Mousasi, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Mousasi wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Ewan is now in half guard.
Ewan passes to full mount!
Mousasi tries to hold on but Ewan pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gegard Mousasi dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Mousasi gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ewan passes Mousasi's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Mousasi is refusing to be controlled, as Ewan sits in half guard.
Mousasi is trying to stand.
Ewan wants to stand up but Mousasi is controlling the position.
Mousasi is trying to maintain the position but Ewan is very close to passing his half guard.
Ewan has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Ewan is breathing heavily.

Ewan can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mousasi is looking to escape.
Mousasi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mousasi tries to get out of the position.
Mousasi is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Mousasi reaches up to try and control the position but Ewan seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Mousasi rolls and tries to escape and now Ewan has his back!
Mousasi grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ewan has good solid back control here.
Ewan punishes Mousasi with strikes from the back mount.
Mousasi wants to escape the position.
Ewan has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Mousasi.
Ewan lands shots from the back.
Ewan controls the action.
Ewan tries to get the hooks in deep but Mousasi pushed the leg off.

Mousasi trying to control the position but Ewan manages to sink in the hooks.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Mousasi covers up after that shot from Ewan.
Ewan slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Mousasi staying busy and making it hard for Ewan to control.
Ewan lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.

Ewan is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Mousasi defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Lance Ewan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Ewan slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Ewan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Ewan gets to his feet. Mousasi looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Gegard Mousasi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ewan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Some wild striking there from Mousasi.
Mousasi tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ewan was well out of range. Poor timing from Mousasi.
Mousasi tests Ewan's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Gegard Mousasi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mousasi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Gegard Mousasi showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Mousasi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
