With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rock Roll!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fife tries to clinch
and Roll counters with a straight right hand.


It looks like Barney Fife has been cut.
Fife throws a nice looking combination but Roll bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Roll shoots for a takedown but Fife saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Roll throws a hook but Fife avoids it easily.
A big right from Roll misses.
Roll pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Roll avoids the head kick by Fife.
Roll scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Roll tries for a takedown but Fife sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Nice takedown defense from Fife. No joy for Roll on that attempt.
Barney Fife has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rock Roll.
Roll throws the left hand but Fife avoids the punch easily.

Fife wants to clinch up but Roll keeps it at a distance.
Fife lunges at Roll with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Roll's hand.
A telegraphed right hand from Roll misses the target.
Fife throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Fife connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Roll momentarily.
Fife lands with a shot to the body.
Barney Fife seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fife looks to clinch
and Roll counters with a nice uppercut.
Fife wants to clinch but Roll slips to the side

and Roll counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Fife's guard now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fife is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Roll looks gassed!
Roll is doing well to control the position and prevent Fife from advancing to side control.
Roll is trying to maintain the position but Fife is very close to passing his half guard.

Roll is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Roll pushes Fife off looking to stand but Fife dives back in and keeps control.

Rock Roll has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Fife scores with a head kick.
Fife throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fife tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Roll manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Fife wants to clinch up but Roll keeps it at a distance.
Fife lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Fife.

and Roll counters with a stiff right hand.

Fife closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fife lands in his opponent's guard.
Roll really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fife. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Roll wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fife stays in close to Roll's body and controls the position.
Roll trying to keep a closed guard but Fife is proving a slippery customer.
Fife tries to free his leg and advance position but Roll is retaining full guard.

Fife is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Roll gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Roll can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fife advances to half guard.
Roll is trying to stand up here but Fife is controlling him well.

Fife is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Roll is controlling Fife's trapped leg to prevent Fife from advancing to side control.

Fife decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Fife misses with a takedown

and Roll counters with a shoot takedown. Fife fights it but they end up in guard.

Roll postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Roll got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fife has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Roll has managed to get both his arms back between Fife's legs - danger averted.
Roll throws and elbow that misses. Fife uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Roll's guard. Nice move by Fife!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roll wants to sweep here but Fife controlling him for the moment.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Roll has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Roll looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Barney Fife dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Roll counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Fife is trying to control but can't.
Roll throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Fife manages to get to full guard.
Roll looking to pass the guard.
Roll throws a strike but Fife rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Roll is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Roll is breathing heavily.
Roll is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Rock Roll has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Fife lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Roll holds on and takes a little breather.

Fife fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

That has opened up Rock Roll's cut even more.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fife shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Roll defends it nicely.

Fife cracks Roll with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Fife pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Fife wants to clinch up but Roll keeps it at a distance.

Fife shoots in looking for a takedown. Roll tries to sprawl out of it but Fife keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Roll manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Roll throws a jab but it's blocked by Fife.

Fife doesn't manage to clinch there - Roll circles away.

Roll drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Fife has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Roll can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fife throws the left hand but Roll avoids the punch easily.
Fife is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Roll won't allow Fife to pass to mount.
Fife will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Fife fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Roll manages to avoid it.

Fife drives through and clinches with Roll against the cage.

Roll takes an elbow to the temple.
Fife scores with a knee to the head.

Roll throws a punch but it's blocked by Fife.
Fife connects with a nasty looking knee right to Roll's face.

Fife lands an elbow that stopped Roll in his tracks for a moment.

Fife turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Fife manages to end up in side control.
Roll has one of Fife's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.

Fife tries for a kimura but Roll is defending well.

Fife is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Roll has escaped the position, nice work there.
You can see the frustration on Roll's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Roll keeping his opponent close.
Fife controls the position.
Roll is holding Fife down, trying to stall.

Fife thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Roll wants to control but Fife postures up.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Roll is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Fife is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Fife landing strikes from the mount and Roll is in trouble!
Fife looking to control but Roll is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Roll is wriggling around trying to escape.

Fife has hold of Roll's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Roll manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Roll tries to hold on but Fife postures up.
Rock Roll has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Fife is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Fife!
