Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jon Fitch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Chris!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chris doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Fitch counters with a shoot takedown. Chris fights it but they end up in guard.

Fitch drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Fitch jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Fitch is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Chris is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Chris has escaped and now he's on top!

Fitch is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chris defends well.

Chris got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fitch has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Chris has managed to get both his arms back between Fitch's legs - danger averted.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Fitch working for a triangle but Chris defends it easily.

Fitch has his foot on Chris's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chris works his way back into a safe position though.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Fitch is looking for a triangle but Chris pushes his legs off easily.
Chris trying to control but Fitch is working from the bottom.
Chris throwing strikes but missing.
Chris throws a big right hand that misses.
Chris trying to control the position from guard on top but Fitch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Chris landing some decent shots from guard.
Chris throwing strikes from guard but Fitch blocks nicely.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Chris's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Fitch working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chris doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chris manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Chris lands a couple of elbows.

Fitch is looking for a triangle but Chris pushes his legs off easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Chris accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Chris thows a big elbow that misses.

Fitch looking for a guillotine here but Chris defends easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fitch has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Chris can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Chris loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chris lands a couple of elbows.

Chris with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Chris trying to control the position from guard on top but Fitch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Chris trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Chris is looking to work some ground and pound but Fitch has wrist control.
Fitch on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Fitch tries to get out of the position.

Fitch pushes a forearm under Chris's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Chris is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jon Fitch!
