PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sebastian Rutten Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Osman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sebastian Rutten Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Osman!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Osman has closed the distance and engaged Rutten Jr in a clinch.
Osman has Rutten Jr pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rutten Jr manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Rutten Jr is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Osman can't fight it off and eventually Rutten Jr manages to take the fight to the floor. Osman looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Rutten Jr throws a big right hand that misses.
Rutten Jr wants to control from the top but Osman keeps moving.
Rutten Jr trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Rutten Jr is looking to stand up but Osman won't let him.
Osman looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Rutten Jr will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Sebastian Rutten Jr has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Osman is looking to clinch.
Osman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rutten Jr moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A head kick misses from Osman.

Osman gets the takedown into side control.
Rutten Jr is looking for a sweep.
Osman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rutten Jr keeps working.
Rutten Jr dodges the ground and pound from Osman.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Osman creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Rutten Jr sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Osman wants to control but Rutten Jr is keeping him busy.
Rutten Jr is trying to get back to half guard.
Osman should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

A lull in the action here as Osman stalls from top position.
Rutten Jr sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Osman is thwarting Rutten Jr's attempts to control the position.
Osman missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rutten Jr actively working from the bottom here.
Rutten Jr pushes Osman off but Osman dives into side control.
Rutten Jr manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rutten Jr trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Osman manages to pass to mount!

A close round but Mike Osman will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Rutten Jr fails with the takedown
and Osman counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Rutten Jr throws a series of punches but Osman avoids them all with ease.
Osman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rutten Jr sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Osman somewhat.

Osman is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Rutten Jr gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Rutten Jr is trying to trip Osman. He has hold of a leg but Osman is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Rutten Jr persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Rutten Jr gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Osman is breathing heavily.

Osman has his takedown stuffed

and Rutten Jr counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Sebastian Rutten Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Osman.
Rutten Jr passes into half guard.
Rutten Jr looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Rutten Jr is looking for a kimura but Osman is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Rutten Jr to get the leverage.
Rutten Jr content to control rather than advance.

Osman has hold of Rutten Jr's hands but Rutten Jr slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

We're going to have a standup here because Sebastian Rutten Jr wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Rutten Jr shoots in and bounces Osman off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Rutten Jr slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Rutten Jr drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Osman manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rutten Jr has Osman in his guard.

Rutten Jr manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Osman manages to get himself to full guard.
Osman looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Rutten Jr gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sebastian Rutten Jr dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Rutten Jr pulls Osman into guard.
Osman is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Rutten Jr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Osman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Osman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Osman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Osman avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Rutten Jr is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Osman might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rutten Jr kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Mike Osman has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Osman tries for a takedown but Rutten Jr circles away easily
and Rutten Jr counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Osman is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Osman wants to clinch
enabling Rutten Jr to counter with a crisp jab.

Rutten Jr darts in and clinches Osman up against the cage.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rutten Jr pulls guard successfully.
Rutten Jr manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Osman manages to get himself to full guard.

Sebastian Rutten Jr showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Rutten Jr has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
