Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Oliveira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Archie Parchi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fernando Oliveira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Archie Parchi!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Sosuke Kotani and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliveira doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Parchi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Oliveira shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Oliveira was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Parchi regains half guard.
Oliveira not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parchi has his hands clasped together around Oliveira's back. He's all about the action.
Let's hope that Parchi has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Oliveira is keen to just control but Parchi is a slippery customer.
Oliveira really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Parchi has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Oliveira off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Parchi is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Parchi is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Oliveira pulls him back up using the underhooks.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Oliveira is trying to drag Parchi to the mat but Parchi just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Oliveira tries for a takedown but Parchi circles away easily

and Parchi counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Oliveira is breathing heavily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Oliveira is staying active underneath Parchi, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Parchi connects with a nice short shot to Oliveira's temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Oliveira counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Parchi!
Parchi wants to hold on but Oliveira pushes him away.
Parchi is desperately trying to improve his position but Oliveira has a good base and remains in mount.
Oliveira throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Oliveira will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Parchi can do anything to dispel that myth.

Oliveira closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Oliveira lands in his opponent's guard.

and Parchi counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Oliveira's guard now.
Parchi postures up in Oliveira's guard and throws a big left but Oliveira blocks it.
Oliveira is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
