PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Madison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mick Frey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, James Madison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mick Frey!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Madison or perhaps it was just good defense by Frey which made him look bad.
Madison will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Frey shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Madison's guard.

Madison is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Frey is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Madison has his foot on Frey's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Frey works his way back into a safe position though.

Madison is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Frey defends well.

That was a close round but I would say that James Madison will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Frey shoots in looking for a takedown. Madison tries to sprawl out of it but Frey keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Madison manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Madison seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Frey for as long as he can get away with.

Madison has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Madison, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
