Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karl Buss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brad Havey!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Havey shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Havey's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Havey preventing the sweep.
Havey slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Buss will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Brad Havey hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Havey circles away from the clinch attempt

and Havey counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Buss's guard now.
Buss is trying to control the position but Havey postures up.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Havey controls from within his opponent's guard.
Let's hope that Havey has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Havey scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Havey controls the position.
Havey has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Buss!

Havey tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Buss really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Buss is trying to stand but he's just given Havey his back.
Havey really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Buss.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
I looks like Havey might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brad Havey dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Buss tries to clinch but Havey moves away

and Havey counters with a single leg into guard. Buss didn't expect that.
Buss can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Havey controls the pace.

Havey content to stall in guard here.
Havey won't allow Buss to get back to his feet.

Havey is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Buss moves to clinch but Havey breaks away

and Havey counters with a takedown into side control.

Havey tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Havey has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Buss tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Buss is looking to get to half guard.
Havey content just to control the position here.

Buss tries to improve his position but instead Havey has taken his back!
I really don't envy Buss right now.

Buss showing good submission defense here.
Buss trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Havey is riding his opponent, not letting Buss buck him off.
Havey's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brad Havey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Havey feints and as Buss raises his hands in defense, Havey changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Buss is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Brad Havey has got the better of the ground game so far.
Buss is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Buss can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Havey controls the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Buss wants to clinch but Havey slips to the side

and Havey decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Buss's guard.
Havey slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Brad Havey is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Buss darts in trying to clinch

and Havey counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Havey.

Havey stays in close to Buss's body and controls the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Havey engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Buss throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Brad Havey comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Havey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
