PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Plutonio Napalm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Maeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thiago Maeda told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Plutonio Napalm!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Maeda!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Mauricio Rocha and Seu Braga.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Napalm.
Maeda pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Napalm shoots in but Maeda avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Maeda fails with the takedown

and Napalm counters with a shoot takedown. Maeda fights it but they end up in guard.
Maeda lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Napalm!
Napalm sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Maeda is pressing down on Napalm's thigh, looking to free his foot. Napalm is holding on for now.
Napalm moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Napalm had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Maeda defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Napalm has his foot on Maeda's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maeda works his way back into a safe position though.

Maeda avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Maeda wants to control from the top but Napalm keeps moving.

Napalm escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Maeda gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Maeda wants to pass the guard but Napalm is keeping the position.

Napalm looking for a triangle here. Maeda is fighting it but it looks tight! Napalm pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Maeda is tapping out - this one is all over!
