The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hyabusa throws a sloppy head kick and Roberts moves out of range easily.

Hyabusa lands a big head kick that sends Roberts tumbling to the mat! Hyabusa takes a step backwards and waves Roberts back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Roberts stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hyabusa swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Roberts decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Roberts is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Roberts jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hyabusa walks away with a smile on his face. Roberts gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

and Roberts counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Roberts.
Hyabusa prevents the takedown attempt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hyabusa breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Tragen Hyabusa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hyabusa tries to close the distance and clinch but Roberts swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Hyabusa on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hyabusa tries to get out of the position.

Hyabusa might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Roberts can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hyabusa is looking to escape.

Roberts has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hyabusa's face.

Roberts swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Hyabusa is now in Roberts's guard. A big mistake from Roberts there, giving up the dominant position!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hyabusa wants to get up but he can't break Roberts's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roberts has hold of Hyabusa's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Hyabusa tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Roberts cranks the arm and Hyabusa screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Hyabusa, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
