Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brett Davids (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cliff Sierra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davids's entrance music is "Sharp Dressed Man" by ZZ Top. A fine choice. Sierra has chosen Sweet Dreams-Manson as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brett Davids!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cliff Sierra!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davids jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Sierra pushes Davids up against the cage in a clinch.
Sierra controlling the action here for a moment.
Sierra has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Davids is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Davids can't get the takedown.
Sierra changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Davids fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Sierra misses with a takedown
and Davids counters with a nice uppercut.
Brett Davids has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cliff Sierra.
Sierra scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Davids on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Sierra. Sierra obviously looking to wear him down.
Sierra buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Davids swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Sierra counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Davids misses with an uppercut. Sierra saw that one coming.
Davids lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Brett Davids is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Sierra closes this distance looking for a takedown but Davids circles away.

Sierra is looking to clinch.
Sierra dives in and grabs Davids's left leg, looking for a takedown. Davids pushes down on Sierra's head and hops out.

Davids uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Sierra has time to react.

and Davids counters with a series of strikes. Sierra will be more careful next time no doubt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Sierra takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Cliff Sierra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sierra looks gassed!
Davids scores with a sloppy right hand. Sierra should have avoided that one.

Sierra takes one to the side of the head.
Davids misses with a double jab.
Davids lands a jab to the head.
Sierra takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Davids is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Oooooh!!! Davids has knocked Sierra down with a huge combo! Davids steps away and waves a wobbly Sierra back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Cliff Sierra has been cut.
Davids misses with a low kick as Sierra jumps back.
Davids works the jab nicely.
Davids ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Davids moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Davids will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sierra is trying desperately to land a takedown but Davids is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Sierra.
Davids scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

A left and a right from Davids both land. Nice combination.
Sierra moves forwards but Davids connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Davids fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Sierra with a poor takedown
and Davids counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Davids takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Sierra throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Davids tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sierra is in Davids's guard.
Davids on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Davids tries to get out of the position.

Davids has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Sierra off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Davids will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sierra throws out a leg kick but Davids moves out of range and Sierra only half commits.
Sierra moves to clinch but Davids breaks away
and Davids cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Sierra gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Davids.
Davids keeps Sierra at a distance using the push kick.
Davids lands a right hook to the body.
Sierra has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Davids throws a series of punches but Sierra moves out of range.
Davids throws a nice looking combination but Sierra bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Davids lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Sierra at a distance.
Davids scores with a nice strike.
Davids scores with a one two! Sierra had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Davids keeps the fight on the outside.
Davids stuns Sierra with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Davids feints a jab promting Sierra to slip. Davids then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Sierra slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Davids's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Sierra moves forwards but Davids connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Davids is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sierra can do to turn this around?

Davids drops Sierra with a beautiful combination! Sierra stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Davids is looking for the KO!
Sierra is still on wobbly legs! Can Davids finish him?
Davids stuns Sierra with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Sierra seems to have recovered his senses.
Sierra is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Davids.

No joy there for Davids, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sierra takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Davids is working the combinations to good effect here.
Davids throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Sierra counters with a single leg into guard. Davids didn't expect that.
Davids is pulling down on Sierra's head to control his posture.
Sierra trying to control but Davids is working from the bottom.
Sierra won't allow Davids to sweep him here.
Davids pulls Sierra in close to his closed guard and prevents Sierra from doing any damage or advancing position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Sierra throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Davids works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Sierra stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Davids swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Sierra shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Davids napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Davids wants to get back to his feet but Sierra drags him back down.

Davids throws Sierra to one side and escapes!
Donk. Sierra catches Davids right on the button with a cross.
Davids keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sierra has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Sierra wants to slow Davids down by chopping away at his legs.
Sierra shoots in looking for a takedown. Davids tries to sprawl out of it but Sierra keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Davids manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Good work by Davids as he checks the leg kick.

A slow jab from Davids misses its intended target.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Sierra tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Davids swivels and escapes.
Sierra slips a straight right by Davids.
Davids throws a right and a left that Sierra avoids nicely.
Sierra shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Davids but Davids pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Davids stuffs the takedown attempt from Sierra. Sierra gets slowly back to his feet.
Brett Davids has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cliff Sierra.
Sierra tries to close the distance and clinch but Davids swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Davids counters with a right hand to the body.
No joy there for Davids, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sierra takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

and Davids counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Sierra thinking.

Sierra on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
A shot to the liver by Davids. Beautiful body shot.

Davids lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Davids scores with a leg kick.
Brett Davids is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Davids throws a series of punches but Sierra moves out of range.
Davids misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sierra tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Davids works Sierra's body with a nice hook.
Davids looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Sierra shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Sierra was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Sierra can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Davids is looking to escape.
Sierra won't let Davids get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Sierra with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Cliff Sierra has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Sierra looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Davids is trying to escape the mount.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sierra tries to control but Davids wriggling away.
Davids tries to hold on but Sierra postures up.
Davids keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Davids taking shots to the head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Brett Davids showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Davids, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
