The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brott shoots in for a takedown but Tihata shows good takedown defense.

Tihata has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Brott can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Tihata has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Brott is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Tihata.

Tihata wants to control but Brott postures up.
Tihata is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Brott is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Brott lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Brott lands a big shot there that rocks Tihata but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
