The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Otto tries for a takedown but Escudero circles away easily
and Escudero counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Otto gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Escudero counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Otto doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Escudero counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jay Otto. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Escudero drops Otto with a beautiful combination! Otto stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Escudero is looking for the KO!

Otto gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Escudero counters with a nice leg kick.
Otto is breathing heavily.
Escudero throws a low kick, looking for Otto's leg but Otto calmly moves out of range.
Otto shoots and misses
and Escudero counters with a slapping leg kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
No joy there for Escudero, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Escudero pivots, looking for a leg kick but Otto is out of range and Escudero settles back down.
Escudero moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Otto shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Escudero counters with a good low kick that Otto was not able to check.
Otto doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Escudero lands a left and a right that send Otto crashing to the mat, dazed. Escudero thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Otto is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Otto takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Escudero lands with a big left! Otto is wobbled badly! Escudero comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Otto to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
