Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of London, Julius Lawson!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Hudson throws a predictable looking body shot
and Lawson counters with a lovely straight right hand!


It looks like Saul Hudson has been cut.
Hudson misses with an uppercut.
Hudson tries to clinch but Lawson moves out of range.
Lawson misses with a body shot.
Lawson just misses with a punch to the body.
Lawson cracks Hudson with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Lawson gets tackled into the cage by Hudson. Hudson maintains the clinch.

Hudson gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


It looks like Julius Lawson has been cut.
Hudson is looking to control Lawson's arms but Lawson gets an underhook and turns him. Now Hudson has his back to the cage.

Lawson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lawson swings for the body but Hudson moves out of range.

Hudson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hudson lands in his opponent's guard.
Lawson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hudson wants to control from the top but Lawson keeps moving.
Lawson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hudson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hudson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hudson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hudson connects with a couple of short punches.
Hudson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Lawson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Hudson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lawson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hudson, into his guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Hudson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lawson manages to get himself to full guard.
Lawson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hudson controls the pace.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hudson is in close to Lawson's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hudson wants to control from the top but Lawson keeps moving.

Hudson closes the distance and pushes Lawson back into the cage.
Hudson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lawson pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Hudson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hudson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hudson seems to be working for a kimura but Lawson defends the submission attempt.

Hudson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lawson defends it well.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Lawson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Hudson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Lawson at a distance.

Lawson scores with a sloppy right hand. Hudson should have avoided that one.
Saul Hudson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hudson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lawson's guard.
Hudson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
