Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Will West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vic Sommers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Will West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vic Sommers!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

West shoots in and gets a takedown into Sommers's guard.
Sommers preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
West trying to control the position from guard on top but Sommers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
West content to stall in guard here.
Sommers pulls West in close to prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
West with a flurry of punches that miss.
West trying to control but Sommers is working from the bottom.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Will West wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Sommers does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Good exchange - West coming out on top.
Sommers keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Sommers misses with a body punch
and West counters with a nice leg kick.

and Sommers counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
West wants to improve his position but Sommers is controlling well.
Sommers lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Sommers prevents West from improving his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sommers throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
West makes his way to full guard. A much better position for West.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sommers accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

West preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Sommers is looking to work some ground and pound but West has wrist control.
Sommers stopping the sweep attempt from West.
West is looking to sweep but instead, Sommers has passed into half guard.
West tries to roll over but Sommers keeps him under control.
Sommers has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Sommers lands with a punch from half guard.
West wants to get back to full guard.
Sommers tries to pass to full mount but West defends it.
West has his hands clasped together around Sommers's back. He's all about the action.

West has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sommers is working away from the top position though.
Sommers not doing much here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Will West wasn't doing enough on the ground.
A bone on bone clash there as West blocks the leg kick.
West throws a jab when Sommers was well out of range.
Sommers goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Sommers throws a combination that misses
and West counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Sommers misses with a body shot
and West makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Sommers really felt that one!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
West lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by West.


It looks like Vic Sommers has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sommers thows a body shot but no joy.

Sommers moves into the clinch successfully.
West has Sommers pressed against the cage, preventing Sommers from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
West creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Sommers's defenses.
Sommers working hard to break the clinch.
West lands a right hand.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
A head punch on the inside from West fails to land.
West lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Sommers or not.

Sommers breaks from the clinch.
Sommers throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and West counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Sommers looks gassed!
A shot to the liver by West. Beautiful body shot.
West shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sommers but Sommers pushes him off and we're back to square one.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
West shoots in but no luck this time.
Sommers just misses with a punch to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Will West dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Vic Sommers's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Sommers swings for the body but West moves out of range.
Sommers throws a body kick the misses
and West cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
West throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sommers.
Sommers misses with a double jab.
Nice shot by West.
Sommers misses with a hook to the body
and West counters with a nice uppercut.
West throws a right and a left that Sommers avoids nicely.
West misses with a series of wild punches.
West shoots in looking for a takedown but Sommers manages to keep the fight standing, pushing West's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Sommers is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down West rather than just go for the knockout.
No joy there for Sommers, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
West tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Sommers manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Sommers avoids a punch combination nicely.
West is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
West catches Sommers with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Sommers takes one on the button.
Will West is winning the standup battle so far.
West moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Sommers shoots for a double leg takedown but West sprawls well. He's pushed Sommers's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
West dips to his left and cracks Sommers with an uppercut!
West tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
West will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Sommers throws a head kick but West moves out of range.
West digs a good hook to Sommers's body.
Sommers is breathing heavily.
West fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Sommers on the side of the head.
A telegraphed right hand from Sommers misses the target.
Sommers misses with a few strikes there.
West scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Sommers scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

West wants to get back to full guard.
Sommers lands strikes from half guard.
West has a hand on Sommers's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Sommers takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Sommers pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

West is working hard here to advance position.
Sommers lands a big shot there that rocks West but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Sommers breaks from West's wrist control and lands an elbow.
West in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Sommers is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. West can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

West is desperately trying to improve his position but Sommers has a good base and remains in mount.

Sommers lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

West is in a horrible position here. Sommers smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.


West is rocked!
A nice elbow there by Sommers.
Oh West is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sommers postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have West in real trouble here! The ref calls for West to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vic Sommers!
