Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Herrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mikey Ness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Herrera's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Don Omar - Bandolero. Mikey Ness will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vincent Herrera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mikey Ness!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Herrera.

Herrera scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Herrera decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ness to his feet.
Herrera misses with an uppercut

and Ness counters with a single leg into guard. Herrera didn't expect that.
Herrera wants to stand up but Ness is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Herrera avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Herrera might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Ness pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Herrera is keeping the position for now.
Ness trying to control the position from guard on top but Herrera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ness wants to stand but Herrera is controlling his posture from full guard.

Herrera is looking to stand up but Ness isn't so interested in that idea.
Ness tries to stand but Herrera is controlling from the bottom.
Ness looking to sit in guard and control but Herrera gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Herrera tries to free his leg and advance position but Ness is retaining full guard.
Ness is trying to keep Herrera in close.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Herrera connects with a couple of short punches.
Ness utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Herrera looking to sit in guard and control but Ness gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Herrera keeping moving, preventing Ness from controlling successfully.
Herrera wants to stand up but Ness is controlling him.

Ness wants to control from the top but Herrera keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mikey Ness was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Ness has his takedown stuffed

and Herrera counters with a takedown into side control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Herrera throws an elbow but Ness slips to the side and avoids it well.

Herrera throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Ness works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Ness has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Herrera is working away from the top position though.
Ness is staying active underneath Herrera, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Herrera wants to pass to mount but Ness is defending the position.
Herrera passes into side control, despite Ness's attempt to control the position.
You can see the frustration on Ness's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ness is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Herrera's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Herrera knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ness on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Vincent Herrera wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

and Herrera counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Ness escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Herrera gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mikey Ness.
Ness tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Herrera counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Ness keeping moving, preventing Herrera from controlling successfully.
Herrera distracts Ness with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Herrera postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Ness is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Herrera postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Herrera is looking to work some ground and pound but Ness has wrist control.

Ness preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Herrera postures up in Ness's guard and throws a big left but Ness blocks it.
Herrera has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Herrera wants to control from the top but Ness keeps moving.
Ness wants to control but Herrera passes easily into half guard.
Herrera is thwarting Ness's attempts to control the position.
Ness might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Herrera kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Ness is trying to maintain the position but Herrera is very close to passing his half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Herrera is nestled in close to Ness, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Ness is looking to escape.
Ness is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Ness looks like he's trying to stand up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Mikey Ness wasn't active enough on the ground.
Ness defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Herrera.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ness throws a right and a left that both miss.
Herrera shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ness defends it nicely.

and Herrera counters with a shoot takedown. Ness fights it but they end up in guard.
Herrera makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Herrera accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Vincent Herrera overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ness bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Herrera's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ness passes to full mount!
Herrera wants to try and get back to his feet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ness thowing shots but they're missing.
Ness looking to control but Herrera is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Ness sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Herrera is controlling an arm, preventing Ness from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Ness can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Herrera is looking to escape.
Herrera blocking the ground and pound.
Ness throwing strikes here but Herrera is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Herrera wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Ness.
Ness throws some wild stikes that Herrera manages to avoid easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ness sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Ness looking to control but Herrera is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Herrera on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Herrera tries to get out of the position.

Ness is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Herrera to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Herrera shrugs it off.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Herrera is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Vincent Herrera.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Herrera, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
