The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pope tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Young paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Pope misses with an attempted mid kick.

Pope gets a takedown into half guard.
Young makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Young.
Young looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pope is one step ahead there.
Pope wants to stand but Young is controlling his posture from full guard.
Young wants to sweep here but Pope controlling him for the moment.

Young had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Pope is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Young Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Pope's back instead.
You can see the frustration on Pope's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Young working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Pope is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Young has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Pope taps out!
