PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Xhun Kawozinazaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zirko Slatovisk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Zirko Slatovisk was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Zirko Slatovisk!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slatovisk misses with a combination
and Kawozinazaki counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kawozinazaki is defended easily by Slatovisk.
Slatovisk throws a series of punches but Kawozinazaki moves out of range.

Kawozinazaki drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kawozinazaki jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Slatovisk wants to stand up but Kawozinazaki is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kawozinazaki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kawozinazaki passes into half guard.
Kawozinazaki is pressing down on Slatovisk's thigh, looking to free his foot. Slatovisk is holding on for now.
Slatovisk tries to kick Kawozinazaki off but Kawozinazaki keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Kawozinazaki is looking for a kimura but Slatovisk is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kawozinazaki to get the leverage.

Kawozinazaki wants to work for an arm triangle but Slatovisk is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Slatovisk is trying to reverse the position but instead Kawozinazaki has taken his back - oops!

Slatovisk is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Kawozinazaki gets his way!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kawozinazaki is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Slatovisk defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
