PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sub Zero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kelly Axel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Axel has chosen We can Win as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sub Zero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kelly Axel!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Axel shoots in looking for a takedown but Zero manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Axel's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Zero shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Axel napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Zero thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Zero tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Zero has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Zero goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Axel rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Zero's guard! Nice work there by Axel!

Zero escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Axel gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Axel drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Axel jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Zero looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Axel drops back looking for a leg! Zero is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Zero manages to kick Axel off! Axel jumps back into Zero's guard.

Axel thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Zero is on top in guard.

Zero drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Axel manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Zero has Axel in his guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Axel is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Zero manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Zero looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Zero goes for an armbar but Axel turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Axel.

Zero has his foot on Axel's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Axel works his way back into a safe position though.

Zero bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Axel's guard.

Zero drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Axel dives on top into guard.
Axel won't allow Zero to sweep him here.

Zero is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Zero is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Axel has managed to free his arm - good work.

Zero is looking for a kimura but Axel is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Zero to get the leverage.

Axel is looking for a sweep. Zero is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
