Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Schulz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Valkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Valkov has chosen A Day Late by Anberlin as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schulz throws a lazy uppercut
and Valkov cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Valkov misses with a hook
and Schulz counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Valkov lands a really nice looking cross but Schulz seems unphased.
A telegraphed right hand from Valkov misses the target.
Schulz moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Valkov misses with a left hand
and Schulz counters with a lovely shot to the body.
A telegraphed right hand from Valkov misses the target.
Valkov throws the left hand but Schulz avoids the punch easily.
Valkov misses with an uppercut

and Schulz counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Valkov!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Valkov is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Schulz thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Schulz fails to move to back control.

Schulz throws a strike there. Valkov manages to avoid it well and slips a leg under to get to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Schulz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Valkov is just riding it out for now. Schulz eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Schulz has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Valkov defend it? Schulz steps over the head and cranks it - Valkov is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Schulz!
