PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jesse James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quack Smack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smack comes into a darkened arena with his song building. I Believe kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jesse James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quack Smack!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James misses with the combination.
James throws a series of punches but Smack moves out of range.
James fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
James fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jesse James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Smack gets a clinch.

Smack pulls James into guard.
James makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Smack strikes from his own guard.
James wants to pass the guard but Smack is keeping the position.

Smack is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Smack can't keep his opponent in guard - James advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Smack is looking for a sweep. James is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

James working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smack doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smack manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That was a close round but I would say that Jesse James will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Quack Smack showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
