The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beam looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Beam shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Beam was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Beam looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Hayes takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Beam wants to take his opponent's back but Hayes doesn't allow it.
Beam avoids the attempt from Hayes to control.
Beam sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Beam looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hayes really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Beam with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.

Beam stops Hayes from getting back to his feet.

Beam is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hayes is just riding it out for now. Beam eventually gives up the hold.
