PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luimunaama Lare (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sianleuka Jack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Lare might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to AC/DC - Hell's Bells. Jack has chosen The Highwaymen - Highwayman as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Luimunaama Lare!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sianleuka Jack!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lare closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jack circles away.
Lare scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Lare fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Jack looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
A shot to the body from Jack misses

and Lare moves into the clinch.
Lare pressing his opponent against the cage.
Lare gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
Lare is trying to break free.

Lare escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lare fails in his attempt to clinch.
Jack pushes Lare away with a front kick.
Lare lands with a cross.

Lare moves into the clinch successfully.
Jack prevents Lare from breaking the clinch.
Jack tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Lare just stands there and leans against the cage.

Jack has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Lare regains guard immediately.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lare wants to sweep here but Jack controlling him for the moment.

Lare is trying to control the position but Jack postures up.
Jack trying to control the position from guard on top but Lare is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jack controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Lare wants to stand but Jack is controlling the position.
Jack wants to control from the top but Lare keeps moving.
Lare looking for a sweep. Not yet Lare, not yet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Lare tries to close the distance and clinch but Jack swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lare is looking to clinch.
Jack throws a head kick that Lare semi-blocks.

Lare moves into range and clinches up with Jack.

Lare breaks the clinch.
Luimunaama Lare seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lare tries to clinch there but Jack circles away.
Lare misses with a two punch combination.
Lare is breathing heavily.

Lare has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jack is trying to maintain a safe position but Lare gets an underhook and turns Jack into the cage.

Jack breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Jack darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jack controlling the pace.
Jack is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Lare!

Lare takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Jack scoring with strikes but Lare is staying in there.
Jack controlling his opponent.
Jack lands a big elbow.
Jack tries to control but Lare wriggling away.
Jack controlling the pace for now.
Jack tries to control but Lare wriggling away.
Jack might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lare kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lare reaches up to try and control the position but Jack seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Lare rolls and tries to escape and now Jack has his back!

Jack tightening his grip on Lare, looking for the choke.
Lare has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Lare covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

Jack is looking for the choke from the back position but Lare is controlling his hands well.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sianleuka Jack dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A head kick by Lare misses

and Jack counters by clinching up.
Lare is trying to break free.
Lare has had enough of the clinch but Jack keeps him there for the moment.
Lare wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Lare prevents Jack from breaking the clinch.
Jack looking to slow down the pace here.
Lare tries to break the clinch but Jack is controlling the position.

Lare breaks from the clinch.
Lare throws a leg kick

so Jack counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Jack tries to free his leg and advance position but Lare is retaining full guard.
Jack wants to control from the top but Lare keeps moving.
Lare looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Lare is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Jack is breathing heavily.

Lare seems keen to control Jack's posture.

Lare is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Lare is looking to break free of the clinch but Jack has double underhooks.
Jack drops down looking for an ankle pick but Lare pulls his leg out and moves away.

Jack shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lare as he avoids it easily.
Luimunaama Lare has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sianleuka Jack.

Lare darts in and clinches Jack up against the cage.
Lare is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Jack throws a knee to the head but misses.

Lare jumps guard.
Lare wants to sweep here but Jack controlling him for the moment.
Lare is trying to keep Jack in close.
Jack wanted to stand there but Lare had control of the position.
Jack prevents Lare from getting back to his feet.

Jack scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Jack not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Sianleuka Jack has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lare is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jack is trying to control but can't.
Jack moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Jack uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Jack pushes Lare up against the cage in a clinch.

Jack jumps into guard, dragging Lare to the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jack is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Jack tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Sianleuka Jack showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Jack drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Lare fails to land with a series of punches.

Lare scores a takedown into full mount!
Jack tries to reverse the position but Lare maintains control.
Jack reaches up to try and control the position but Lare seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Jack rolls and tries to escape and now Lare has his back!

Jack tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Lare throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Jack is squirming around, avoiding Lare's attempts to control the action.
Jack tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Lare moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Jack has worked his arm free - good work by Jack!

Jack struggling a bit here.

Lare decides to stand back up.
Lare lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Lare closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Lare manages to pull guard.
Jack wants to control from the top but Lare keeps moving.
Lare bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jack's guard.
Lare wants to control from the top but Jack keeps moving.
Lare stays in close to Jack's body and controls the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jack has his hands on Lare's head, controlling the position.
Lare pushes down on Jack's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lare seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jack does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Lare tries to stand and escape but Jack is controlling the position.

Lare is working for a submission of some sort.
Jack trying to control but Lare postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lare takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Lare is nestled in close to Jack, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Lare stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Jack to get to his feet.
Jack tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Lare counters with a takedown into side control.
Jack is trying to control Lare's posture but Lare avoids it.

Lare decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jack to his feet.
Jack shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lare but Lare pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jack walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Lare misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lare darts in trying to clinch

and Jack counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lare won't be happy with that.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jack wants to control but Lare is keeping him busy.
Lare is trying to work for a sweep but Jack has mounted him!
Jack lands a big elbow.
Jack connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Jack tries to control but Lare wriggling away.

Jack is working for a guillotine from mount but Lare frees his head quite easily.
Lare slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Luimunaama Lare has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lare looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Luimunaama Lare showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Jack has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
